Expressionless Expression???

Yes! It's a flaming dragon!  Why is it that we find things without faces and or missing parts of faces scary?  Is it because  these elements are familiar and allow us to read/gauge emotions or things of that sort? (just a simple musing :P )  But this is just another doodle :)

"Hey kids, don't do drugs!"

So, if you know me, you know that I like birds.  All kinds of birds (and pretty much all animals) they seem to experience life much more fully than us humans.  By fully I mean aware, as in being present, they live in the moment not worrying so much about the future or what has happened in the past.  I sometimes wonder If I too could experience the intense friendship/loyalty dogs seem enjoy.  Perhaps we all could someday?  Anyways, here are some of my sketches, enjoy!

Platypus Fish Inside and Out

Okay not the greatest scan ever, but it's my platypus fish with skeleton. I actually drew this a while ago...but I want to do a muscle drawing too (but I haven't had the time to do it yet).  Learning anatomy is actually pretty interesting, seeing how all the muscles and bones are integrated to make a functioning creature.  I guess the more you know the more you can imagine and create creatures that could somehow possibly exist.

"Because, Abraham Lincoln Makes My Day!"

A charcoal drawing of Abe Lincoln that I did yesterday.  Why? "Because, Abraham Lincoln makes my day!"

Figure Drawing

This is a model that we drew before in a previous class, but this time we were using charcoal in stead of graphite, ink and/or wash.  In addition to charcoal we used some pastels.  I usually avoid pastels... they seem very messy and uncontrolled to me.  However experimentation is key to developing new skills and hopefully likes.   I ran out of time before being able to refine her facial features, but overall it was actually fun to experiment with pastel purple.

The Kissing Snail? Noooooo!

Because I'm a sad sad rhino

I was drawing some animals a few days ago and I drew a rhino. A sad rhino with nubby legs.
